Initial Two-Day IL Concealed Carry Course (16-Hour)

ABOUT THE COURSE

Imagine having your concealed carry (CCW) license. You should be able to protect yourself and your family at any time necessary. During this class we expose you to the laws and legal definitions that revolve around concealed carry. We ensure you are confident and capable enough to carry a firearm concealed in public. RDA believes in everyone’s right to survive and we encourage any lawful person who wants to pursue the training and knowledge necessary to protect themselves, regardless of where they are or when they or their family are in danger. You will be exposed to deadly force scenarios, situational preparedness and psychological considerations of carrying a concealed firearm.


The Illinois Concealed Carry program mandates 16 hours of instruction and concealed carry law pertinent to the State of Illinois.  Our program consists of two certificate producing courses


Day 1 - NRA Basic Pistol Course - 8hrs

Day 2 - Illinois Concealed Carry Law (w/Live fire range qualification) - 8rhs



QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AN ILLINOIS CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a valid FOID card (if an Illinois resident)
  • Not be the subject of a pending arrest warrant, prosecution, or proceeding for an offense or action that could lead to disqualification
  • Not have been in residential or court-ordered treatment for alcoholism, alcohol detoxification, or drug treatment within the last 5 years
  • Submit a completed Concealed Carry License application
  • Successfully complete 16 hours of firearms training, including classroom and range instruction.


Have not been convicted or found guilty in Illinois or any other state of:

  1. A misdemeanor involving the use or threat of physical force or violence to any person within the last 5 years
  2.  Two or more violations related to driving while under the influence of alcohol, other drug or drugs, intoxicating compound or compounds, or any combination thereof, within the last 5 years

  • Maintaining Your Skills

Lessons Day 2:

  • llinois FOID and Concealed Carry Law
  • State and Federal laws regarding firearm
  • storage and transportation
  • Use of cover and concealment
  • Personal Defense Ammunition
  • fundamentals
  • Advanced holster techniques
  • Holster types and considerations
  • Personal awareness and alert conditions
  • Pistol selection criteria for concealed
  • carry
  • Shoot/No-shoot simulator scenarios
  • Live-fire instruction and qualification

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:

  • Your own, modern, safe and fully functional CCW appropriate handgun. You may use a loaner firearm, if necessary, for an additional fee.
  • Be sure to have 50 rounds of factory new ammo (NO reloads).
  • Bring eye and ear protection! If you do not have eye and ear protection it can be provided at the range for a nominal fee.
  • Appropriate holster for the firearm. Outside waistband holsters are preferred. Please have a sturdy belt for holsters.
  • Appropriate range attire, ex: NO low cut shirts, NO open toe shoes, NO shorts.
  • Payment receipt for this course AND current FOID card – payment of course does NOT include any applicable range fees
  • Documentation for any applicable prior training credit such as: DD214 or equivalent honorable discharge.
  • Cleaning Kit 

RECOMENDED EQUIPMENT:

  • Brimmed ball cap
  • Water, snack and any personal items you require
  • Glasses or contacts ( If you wear them regularly)

Course Completition:

There is a written test at the end of the course, students must pass with an 80% or better. You must qualify on the range by shooting a minimum of 70%. Be able to demonstrate safe gun handling. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a course certificate.


  • Failure to follow safety rules/instructions may be cause for immediate ejection.


  • Failure of live fire qualification will require additional training at an additional fee.
